Edinburgh is a city with an important history, beautiful architecture, friendly people, and a rich culture. We spent a day there with a group of 100 students from the International Students Association of Durham.
Here we are on a walkway up towards Edinburgh castle. Just behind us is the national gallery of Scotland - a fine arts museum with works by some of the greats such as Raphael, Boticelli,de Goya, Monet and Cezanne. Did I mention it is free? Yeah. And if you look really close, you'll notice a ferris wheel in the background - a travelling fair was in town.
Here Simmy is posing with a real bagpiper! Look at that guy's neck!All in all, we love Scotland. We can't wait to visit again and tour the castle, John Knox's house and see the Holyrood House (See below).

I love Edinburgh! It was my favorite city when I went to the UK in 2000. The bagpipe guy looks an awful lot like a slightly older version of the guy that was there when we were!
